“I'm telling you this for one reason and one reason only: No matter how sure you are of someone's love, it's always nice to hear it.” ― Mike Gayle

Last week a friend gave me a compliment after saying something mean, I told her I knew she was joking. Then they said: “It doesn't matter I probably would've told you that anyway, some true things aren't said enough.” Some true things aren't said enough. This is something I used to think about all the time. I used to try and get myself in the habit of complimenting people on something that they were good at if I noticed. I used to thank my friends for being friends with me. Not because I thought they weren't going to be, or I thought I had to. I did it because I wanted them to know just how much their friendship meant to me, and just how much I cared about them.

I don’t do that as much anymore, I’m not sure why. Maybe I thought they didn't care, maybe it was I didn't want to annoy them. Maybe I just lost the habit. I think this is a really good habit to have. The quote I used to open highlights why. No matter how sure you are of something, it’s nice to hear it out loud. However, you never know if someone is sure of something. Maybe they struggle with that, or they do think you don't care. Maybe no one else tells them they are loved. You could say the one thing that saved them from themselves. Your words could be the only affirming words they hear all day, week, month maybe even their whole life.

Sometimes this can be weird or awkward. Just start with saying thanks to a friend. Start being telling someone good job if you thought they did a good job. Some things that are true aren’t said enough. Start saying those true things. You can be the light someone else needed.

I do not think you should go around and making up stuff about people, just that when you do think something or realize how much you appreciate someone, or something that they do, tell them. They might not ever hear it, except from you. Words are powerful, words are meaningful. Use them for good.

This one is a bit shorter.
