The other day I was at a Needtobreathe concert. My friend and I were talking about some irrational people we know. I asked him why he thought people were like that, we didn’t really have an answer other than maybe a little insecurity, but he also said that he didn’t think some people could help it. That is also true. Later on that night, some of the people we were with kept talking about going to parties and getting drunk. My friend also told me about some of the people he knows from school who keep track of how many people they had been with and treat it like some sort of game. I could not understand why this was happening or why people put themselves through all that.
Later that week, the topic of worth kept coming up. I know I have talked about this many times before but I am going to talk about it again because I think it is that important. I think there are a lot of problems in the world that would not exist if people understood how much they are worth.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.” John 3:16
Now we have all heard this before, but have you really thought about it? I know I don’t most of time I hear it. God gave us His son so that we might be able to be with Him. God gave His son for you so that you can be with Him. God gave you Himself.
I don’t think a lot of people understand this. God loves you more than you could ever know. A friend of mine and I used to talk about this all the time. He didn’t think we had free will and thought that God wanted everything to happen. I’m not going to go into detail as to why that's wrong because I’ll probably say something that isn’t correct, but I will say that love requires a free choosing and that God does know everything that is going to happen. God knows how many times I am going to do that stupid thing even after I said I wouldn’t. God knows how many people I am going to hurt. God knows how many times you are going to fail, sin, and hurt him, but not care about it. He knows it all, and he knew it all since before he created the world. Yet, he still did it. You know why? HE DID IT FOR YOU! God still did it out of love for you.

I once heard that if you were the only person on earth God still would have died for you. You are worth dying for. You are worth God giving his only son to be nailed to a cross. God knew that we would all still sin after the cross. He still did it for you! How many people do you know that would continue to pursue a relationship with you even after you let them down? He does this for us every day and it's not because He has to. God does not need us, but He loves us more then we could ever know. The whole point here is that you are worth dying for. Jesus died for you. I think people’s lives would be much better if they started acting this way. You deserve to be treated better than that, you are worth more than just your body. You are worth more than that relationship. You are worth more than your past.
